We're getting tough on crime with our super strength security film.
3M spent 7 years developing their world wide patented security film and came up with Multi-micro layered film - sound like scientific mumbo jumbo, but what it stands for is the combined strength which comes from linking 42 layers of Micro thin film in a crossed pattern to lock in the power and lock out unwanted intruders!
If you can imagine one layer of cardboard - pretty easy to tear. Now pile layers of cardboard on top of each other at different angles and try to grip and tear it. Almost impossible! This cross linked pattern is exclusive to 3M and gives our film its unique edge. In fact, our security film has been proven to be more tear resistance in tear resistance tests than older technology security films.
The Security Film industry measures the strength of their films with an impact test that is noted in ft/lbs. The greater the resistance to impact, the higher the scored ft/lbs. The test in 3M .004mm security film has been impact tested to 400ft/lbs.
We want to give a clearer picture on security films so we have developed our product to keep you safe not only from crime but also from dangerous UV rays, whilst at the same time providing crystal clear vision of the world outside.
We are all concerned about ultra violet rays and all security films provide some protection from these dangerous rays. But not all of the rays are screened out. Our product screens out 97% of all UV rays - that's UVA (which causes most fading), UVB (which causes skin cancer and fading) and UVC.
You need to ask other security film providers - does their film definitely stop all UV rays, including UVB? Also, some film manufacturers have produced a thicker film. But thicker is not better, necessarily, when it comes to security films. This thickness creates distortion and combined with an inferior UV protection, gradually deteriorates to produce the yellowing effect you may have noticed on some buildings.
